They actually learn with the perfect amount of discipline. I would highly recommend to any age. We felt like family when we walked in the door. Octavio is a great leader, I’m excited to see my son progress over the coming years.Posted on Google Richard GouldTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Gracie Barra HB is top notch! My son has been training with GB for a few years now, and the growth in his confidence has been incredible to watch. We’ve experienced other studios, but what really sets GBHB apart is that the owner, Professor Otavio, is consistently on the mats training with the kids. He sets high expectations for both his coaching team and his students, while also leading with strong, positive reinforcement. It creates an environment that’s both disciplined and encouraging, exactly what you want for kids learning not just jiu-jitsu, but life skills as well.Posted on Google Joleen NguyenTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Okay. Let me start off by saying that I'm a yelper and I rave about everything good to bad. But Gracie Barra has definitely changed my daughters outlook completely and it's for the absolute better! Our daughter is very strong-willed—“No, I don’t like that” used to be a big part of her vocabulary—so we wanted to introduce her to some form of martial arts that would build confidence, resilience, and discipline. We tried five different studios, and none of them stood out the way GB did. Since starting jiu-jitsu, we’ve seen such an incredible transformation in her. She’s become more confident in herself, developed an “I’m here to work” attitude, and has really broken out of her shell. It’s been amazing to watch her grow not just physically, but mentally and emotionally too. As a parent, I value structure, strong work ethic, and respect—and GB embodies all of that. The way the program is run, how the coaches get down to the children’s eye level, and the expectation that every child gives their best effort truly sets them apart. The coaches, professors, and Nathalia were supportive throughout the entire process and never once pressured our daughter into anything she wasn’t comfortable with. It did take about a month for her to fully adjust, but once she did, everything really clicked. Initially, Coach Curren was her favorite because she felt the most comfortable with him. His calm, encouraging presence made such a difference in helping her ease into training. Now that she’s come out of her shell more, she’s confident working with any coach and genuinely enjoys her one-on-one time with all of them—Coach Craig, Coach Collin, and Professor Arthur included. Gracie Barra HB has truly become like an extended family to us. I recommend them to friends all the time—and now we even have another family we know training their girls there too. If you’re looking for a place that builds confidence, discipline, and character, this is THAT place!Posted on Google IvanTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Jiu Jitsu has been such a positive experience for my 6-year-old son. We started with two classes a week, but after seeing how much his confidence, focus, and skills improved, we quickly bumped it up to three—and the growth has been amazing. The coaches are incredibly patient and truly great with the kids. With 3–4 instructors in every class, there’s always plenty of support and attention, which makes a huge difference. I honestly can’t rave enough about how natural Jiu Jitsu feels for my kids—it’s been such a great fit for both their physical and mental development. Highly recommend!Posted on Google Wendy Di MarcoTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My daughter has been in the kid’s 4-6 year old class for about 6 months now. I am so pleased with how this academy is run! GB HB is like our second family and we’re so thankful to be here. Love watching my daughter and all the other kids grow in confidence and strength each class. And the professors/coaches have a great approach to keep them engaged. 5 stars all around!Posted on Google Abel CardonaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I cannot say enough good things about this gym, the coaches, and the environment they create for the kids. Jiu-jitsu is so much more than learning moves or earning belts. It teaches discipline, confidence, respect, patience, and how to keep going when something is hard. Watching my son earn his grey belt was such a proud moment for our family, but even more than that, it showed us how much he has grown since starting here. The coaches are patient, encouraging, and firm in the right way. They know how to push the kids while still making them feel supported. My son is learning not only how to defend himself, but how to carry himself, listen better, work through challenges, and be proud of the effort he puts in. As a father, I am truly grateful for a place that helps build character, confidence, and toughness in such a positive way. This gym has been a blessing for our family, and I would recommend it to any parent looking for something that will help their child grow both on and off the mats. Thank you to all the coaches for pouring into these kids and helping shape them into stronger, more confident young people. 🥋
